Greener Gilling

“Greener Gilling” is a small environmental group centred on Gilling East parish and Village Hall and includes the villages of Cawton, Coulton, Grimston and Stonegrave. The idea behind the group is to support the residents of these villages in improving their environmental activities and adopting new ones.

The Gilling group works with other village and town groups, who are Members of The Ryedale Environmental Group, to exchange ideas, publicise local activities, offer support and to introduce new ideas and help the Gilling area to become Greener in its outlook and activities for those concerned about the state of the local environment.

Our approach is that of “Little Wins”, for example Litter Picks, Battery Recycling, Community Herb Trug, Wild Flower Sowing, Plant Swop, Repair Café etc. where lots of small ideas lead to a greater overall benefit. We also arrange environmentally focused talks in Gilling Village Hall from respected associations like Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, Ryevitalise plus Eco Fairs, to further peoples knowledge.
