Restoring Ryedale

Restoring Ryedale is an initiative created by Ryedale Environment Group to initiate and support nature recovery projects run by various entities and groups within the Ryedale area of North Yorkshire.

The main theme so far has been working with councils to allow nature to return by creating wildflower verges. Designated wildflower verges in Pickering, Kirkbymoorside, Kirby Misperton and Allerston have already been established, and are starting to thrive due to the new cutting regimes (“cut and collect” twice per year). REG have started giving talks to town and parish councils and organised a nature recovery conference in September 2024. If you’d like to volunteer to help with local rewilding projects please email ryedaleeg@hotmail.com .

REG are getting behind the Blue Campaign, which uses blue hearts to identify areas that are being managed in a way that supports wildlife.
